Web Design
15 Students

The focus of this course is the design and implementation of dynamic web sites. This course will not use any HTML editors. All pages and scripts created during the course will be written by the students. The course will cover the basics of the HTML language, tags, tables, images, and design, as well as advanced elements, frames, forms, buttons, and interaction. A basic overview of the structure and syntax of XML will be presented. The course will also cover basic JavaScript syntax and structure, and apply it to creating dynamic web pages with changing images, dynamic text, alerts, and prompts. Cascading style sheets will be examined and applied to provide formatting and element placement. Finally, if time permits, the students will work with Flash MX to produce a basic animation. Throughout the course we will discuss when, where, why, and how elements can and should be used. By course end, the student will generate a complete dynamic website incorporating the topics discussed. Admission Requirements: Students must be able to type. See Math or Science scores on page 9.
