The emphasis of the biology course will be on
familiarity with essential concepts rather than accumulating facts. After
a brief introduction to basic chemical concepts, the focus of the course
will move to cell and molecular biology, patterns of inheritance and
molecular genetics, the biology of organisms and then finish with organ
systems. A study of evolutionary theory will draw the course material
together into a coherent whole. Laboratory work will be an integrated part
of the biology course. Sessions will include experiments and dissection.
The biology course material will be presented at the college freshman
level. |
