Bronze Coins
15 Students

This class is an introduction to the lost-wax bronze casting process. Students will research coins of the world and design their own in oil-based clay. The clay coin will then be subjected to the lost wax process which will culminate in the pouring of 2100 degree molten bronze. The students will come away with two coins of their own design. The instructor will focus on safety, design and craftsmanship. The class will also take a field trip to the Norton Gallery in Shreveport to see bronze sculpture. They will also be introduced to other artists in art history and in the contemporary world. Note: This course may be eligible for articulated college credit at Northwestern State University. For more information, see page 5 of the brochure.

There is an additional $20.00 lab fee for this course that must be included with the final payment.
