Students will take their meals in the cafeteria along with the residential and instructional staff. Meals are served cafeteria-style, and will offer several choices for each meal in order to better accommodate varying tastes and dietary practices. For instance, students may choose between a non-meat entree and a meat entree, and alternatives such as salads, cereals, and sandwiches will regularly be available.
You may also want to bring some healthy snack food of your own. Some RA groups will get an early dinner time for part of the program and you may want a snack when you get to your dorm room after an evening activity. Also, the food selection may be quite different from what you are used to at home. It would be wise to bring some snack food you are used to eating to maintain your health and not upset your stomach. Some suggestions for what to bring include microwave popcorn, individual cracker packages, microwaveable ravioli/spaghetti cups, microwaveable Ramen noodle cups, trail mixes, beef jerky, pop tarts, or other healthy dry foods you are used to eating. Bring zip lock bags for storing uneaten food…you don’t want to attract bugs to your room!
Just remember that you are not living off of your own supply of food, this is only for snacking and there are no refrigerators to keep your food cold.
One more note: you are required to drink a glass of water with every meal. If you have a distaste for tap water, you may want to bring your own bottles of water. |
