Kappa Chi Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi was installed on January 25, 1997, the first installed in the Centennial year of AOII, which has given Kappa Chi the title of "Centennial Chapter." Kappa Chi was the 172^nd chartered collegiate chapter of AOII.

Kappa Chi Chapter is the third National Panhellenic Conference Organization on the Northwestern State University campus, joining Phi Mu and Sigma Sigma Sigma. At present, Kappa Chi has approximately 70 members who are active on campus and in the community.
