To be admitted to Northwestern students must meet NSU's addmision requirements.
The following should be turned in to the admissions office as soon as possible for full and early consideration for academic scholarships.
- Completed Application for Admission with $20 application fee
- Official ACT or SAT scores
- High School transcripts
- Completed Application for Scholarships Priority deadlines for academic scholarships are December 1st and March 1st of each year

Each performance area in the Music Division has a generous amount of scholarship money available in the form of ensemble participation awards. The audition process and points of contact for each area are listed below.
Band - Audition materials usually consist of major scales and an etude or solo excerpt that demonstrates one's finest playing abilities. No accompanist is required. Choir - Auditions consist of singing at least one prepared solo, vocalization to determine range and agility, sight-reading and listening exercies. Individual audition dates may be scheduled throughout the spring semester. Orchestra - Several audition dates are scheduled during the spring semester or you may arrange for an individual audition date. Audition materials consist of one concerto movement, one etude, orchestral excerpts and a major and minor scale played three octaves. Keyboard - Auditions are held on campus during February and April of each year or by individual appointment. Undergraduate auditions consist of two to three contrasting selections; it is preferred that one of these be from the Baroque period. Graduate auditions consist of 3 to 4 contrasting selections representing more than one style period. Both undergraduate and graduate auditions will include scales, arpeggios and sight-reading.
