Dr. Kristine Coreil, Assistant Professor of Horn, Theory, and Instrumental Pedagogy

Dr. Kristine Coreil has been in the faculty of Northwestern State University since the fall of 1984, teaching horn and music theory, and conducting the NSU Horn Choir. Dr. Coreil received the DMA degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, studying with horn professor Douglas Hill; the Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, studying with Dale Clevenger; and the Bachelor of Music Education degree from NSU, studying with Richard Jennings. She has played with numerous orchestras, including the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, the Beloit-Janesville Symphony Orchestra, the Cabrillo Contemporary Music Festival Orchestra in Santa Cruz, CA, the Longview (TX) Symphony, and is a regular member of the Shreveport Symphony. Dr. Coreil is very active in the International Horn Society, holding the office of Louisiana Area Representative, and will be hosting the Southeast Horn Workshop of the IHS in the spring of 2006. She is also an avid soloist, performing solo and chamber recitals annually. Dr. Coreil's latest area of research is the Classical era natural (valveless) horn, and has performed new solo works written for this instrument in concerts across the nation.
