Eligibility to Remain in the Graduate School

A student whose graduate cumulative average or semester average falls below 3.0 on a 4.0 scale shall be placed on probation. Probation status will be retained so long as the cumulative grade-point average is below 3.0

A student on probation who fails to make a minimum average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during the next semester or summer session of enrollment shall be suspended. The first suspension is for one full academic session and the second is for one calendar year.

Upon suspension from graduate studies a student may appeal for readmission on probation by submitting to his/her advisor a letter addressed to the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research. The advisor, after consulting with the other members of the student's graduate committee, is to append a written recommendation and forward it with the letter to the Graduate Dean, who makes the final decision.

A student on probation with two previous suspensions who does not make a 3.0 on all hours attempted for the semester will be dismissed. Such dismissal is a final action.
