Creole Documentary
This program explores the history, development and uniqueness of a
culture and people known today as the Creoles of Cane River. Their story
is told by those who are representative of the renaissance that is
sweeping the Creole communities of Louisiana as well as the Creoles who
have migrated to other communities in the United States. While
this film uses the Cane River Creole region as it focus, it is
considered as a representation of the Creole people nationwide.

Creole Cuisine
This video, “A Common Pot, Creole Cooking on Cane River” chronicles
the current practice and meaning of traditional foodways in the Isle
Brevelle community is filled with beautiful scenes of the people, the
food, the church, and the River. This film tells the story of the
Creoles of Cane River who have carried on food traditions in eight
distinct categories that bind them in memory, family, spiritual welfare
and the good of the community. Included are scholars talking about the
history of the people and the food; along with community “experts”
discussing and exhibiting different cooking methods and traditions.
