Assistant Professor, Arthur Moghalu, joined the Northwestern State University Criminal Justice Program in Fall 2006. He is currently a PhD candidate at Prairie View A & M where he is an ABD for a degree in Juvenile Justice and Psychology.

Professor Moghalu brings a very unique perspective with him to the classroom. He has worked in various capacities in every department of the criminal justice system, including probation, corrections, and parole. He has also taught at elementary, high school, and college levels at various points in his career since he graduated from high school.

In his last assignment as a parole officer in the state of Texas , he worked as a special agent supervising parolees on electronic monitor. This was a very tough assignment that demanded diligence, pragmatism, and professionalism. Professor Moghalu successfully completed four years on this assignment before proceeding to study for his doctorate.

Professor Moghalu received his Master’s in Criminal Justice from Grambling State University and his Bachelor’s in Finance, with minor in Real Estate, from the University of New Orleans .

Professor Moghalu is also a United States Army veteran. His last tour of duty was in 1990 during Operation Desert Shield. He was awarded a Joint Achievement Service Medal of honor by President Bush for his role in that war.

Overall, Professor Moghalu’s unique background affords him a great capacity to work well in a culturally diverse institution, such as Northwestern State University
