Guest Clinician: Caroline Beatty

Caroline Beatty currently serves as Interim Associate Director of Bands at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Her responsibilities include conducting the Symphonic Winds, directing the Bobcat Marching Band, teaching classes in marching band techniques and instrumental methods, and supervising student teachers. Ms. Beatty has held a similar position at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Prior to her role in higher education, Ms. Beatty taught for thirteen years in public schools in Texas, most recently as Director of Bands at Clear Lake High School in Houston. Concert and marching ensembles under her direction garnered frequent accolades for their performances, including consistent superior ratings, numerous “Best in Class” awards at various festivals in the state and around the country. In 2002, the Clear Lake Wind Ensemble was selected as a Texas Music Educators Association 5A State Honor Band Finalist. Ms. Beatty has also served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Clear Lake High School and began her career in the Katy Independent School District.

Ms. Beatty is a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of Michigan and expects to complete all requirements in the Spring of 2008. She holds both a Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting and a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from The University of Texas at Austin. Active as a clinician and adjudicator, she is a member of College Band Directors National Association, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, and the Conductor’s Guild and is listed multiple times in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
