Costs and Auditions

Northwestern State University provides instruments and uniforms as well as paying for all transportation and meal expenses when the "Spirit of Northwestern" travels. Several audition dates are scheduled during each spring. You may audition during one of the scheduled days, or may arrange an individual audition.

Color Guard Auditions
Individuals who wish to participate as members of the 2008 Demon Colorguard should select one of the audition dates listed below. Tryouts will consist of a review of fundamentals and demonstration of a routine that is taught during the tryout. Participants should dress comfortably and bring their own silk and flagpole.

Drumline Auditions
Individuals who wish to participate as members of the 2008 Demon Drumline are strongly recommended to attend both audition dates. Music for the new marching season will be issued and auditions for specific placement on the Demon Drumline will be held.

Horn Line Auditions
Auditions for horn line members are held on an individual basis throughout the school year and, when necessary, into the summer prior to the opening of the new academic year. Students should prepare a short etude or solo of their choice for the audition and may arrange an audition by calling 318-357-4522 or by clicking on the link below.

Performance scholarships, as well as out-of-state fee waivers, are available to all students who qualify.
