Northwestern State University continues its long-standing
tradition of excellence in teacher education. Since 1884,
when the State Legislature created the State Normal School,
now known as NSU, this university has prepared teachers for
instruction in the classroom.
Students wishing to pursue graduate studies in the field of
education at the Master or Specialist levels will find a vari-
ety of concentrations to suit any aspect of their careers.
Northwestern's College of Education offers the Master of
Education with 20 concentration areas and an Educational
Specialist in Leadership with 7 concentrations.
Combining a foundation in education with classes in areas of
concentration and support, provides advanced preparation
for roles inside the classroom as well as in industry related
businesses outside of school settings.
