JOANNA MAGALE ENDOWED PROFESSORSHIP

Proposal Preparation:

Proposals submitted for the Joanna Magale Endowed Professorship will include the following:

  1. Four double-spaced, typed copies of the proposal.  Proposals are to be submitted to the office of the CAPA Head.  Deadline is [  ]

  2. Cover Sheet.

  3. Narrative (Not to exceed four double-spaced pages), should include a description of the scholarly work to be undertaken as well as a list of expenses directly related to the scholarly activity.

  4. Modified curriculum vitae, which includes a one-page resume and a list of research activities (creative works, performances, lectures, publications, other).

Eligibility:

  1. Any full-time member of the music faculty may submit a proposal.

  2. An individual receiving the award is required to return to the university the following year.  It is the responsibility of the administration to decide how this rule will be enforced.

  3. One Year Moratorium.  Individuals receiving the award will fall under a one year moratorium.  Following a review and evaluation of their research project by members of the Selection Committee, an individual may be certified to reapply for the award following the moratorium.  The individual's performance in previous projects will be an explicit part of the evaluation of future proposals.

  4. Assignment of the Selection Committee.  One faculty member from each of the ranks of Assistant, Associate and Professor.  In the event that a committee member has an award proposal under consideration by the committee, the Department Head will be the third vote on the committee (the committee member will therefore not have a vote on his/her own proposal).
