Fraternities and sororities have been an important element of the University community since the first nationally affiliated Greek organization was chartered at NSU in 1928. The Greek Life Program at NSU is built upon the premise that Greek organizations enhance the educational mission of the University and provide an element of residential and social character to the campus. Northwestern State University believes that involvement in Greek organizations is one but many ways to enhance the quality of life for students by providing a range of opportunities for meaningful individual involvement and growth. The University also believes that Greek organizations are committed to instilling in members the ideas of scholarship, community service, leadership, brotherhood and sisterhood, interfraternalism, personal integrity and social development.
