The National Pan-Hellenic Council is the governing organization of eight of the nine historically Black Greek letter fraternities and sororities listed below. The organization's purpose is to promote and coordinate activities that assist member organizations in attaining their fraternal, educational, cultural, and social objectives. Each group intakes new members at various times throughout the year.
