Welcome
The mission of Northwestern's User Support Staff is to provide desktop computer support to faculty and staff working on University-owned machines. Services provided include installation and troubleshooting of basic desktop and laptop hardware, peripherals, application software, and operating systems; best practices consultation, and Help Desk assistance.
It is also the mission of Basic Computing Services to provide management and maintenance of departmental computer laboratories throughout the campus to facilitate life-long learning through technology support in a student-centered environment.
To request technical assistance, complete the online help request form, send email to helpdesk@nsula.edu , or call the Help Desk line at 4090.
Helpdesk Tips
Below are some suggestions to try before calling the helpdesk line. These
are questions you will be asked when contacted by a technician.
• Have you tried rebooting?
• Have you tried securely plugging in your peripherals?
• Have you tried a different floppy disk before assuming the floppy
drive is malfunctioning?
• If Microsoft Applications are not working, are your drives mapped?
Do you have an "F" drive.
• Are you logged on? Can you log on to a different computer?
• What browser are you using? Internet Explorer Version 6 is the recommended
browser.
