The Louisiana Code of
Governmental Ethics was established, among other things, to ensure that
employees are independent and impartial, and do not
use their public employment for private gain (other than the remuneration
provided by law).
As a public employee, you
may not receive payment from certain nonpublic
sources. Refer to "Payment

As a public employee, you
are prohibited from
engaging in certain contractual relationships. The Louisiana
Board of Ethics provides guidance on such prohibited contractual

As a public employee, you
are subject to certain restrictions on
the receipt of gifts. Refer to "Gifts"
and "Travel Expenses" which

As a public employee, you
may not abuse the authority entrusted to you by
virtue of your public employment. Refer to "Abuse
of Office", which is published by the Board of Ethics. Specific

As a public employee, you
may not engage in activities that are
considered nepotism. Refer to "Nepotism",
which is published by the Board of Ethics. Specific examples are included in
the publication.
