INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ADVISORY COUNCIL (ITAC)
October 24, 2001

The meeting was held in Russell Hall, Room 122 at 3:00 p.m. Chairperson Scheffler called the meeting to order with the discussion of NSTEP and asked Dr. Mark Thompson to speak on the time line and the objectives and goals within the document. Dr. Frank Fuller spoke about the possibility of a survey to be completed by all students, faculty, staff, and adjuncts; this would also include electronic courses. The Council felt that the possibility of a link placed on the NSTEP website may facilitate in the receipt of information requested. Dr. Fuller suggested the possibility of a phone survey.
Chairperson Scheffler reported on the budget process and informed the Council that department budgets can be printed by code and this process needed to be addressed. The Council agreed they needed to view budgets across the university campus.
Chairperson Scheffler asked Jennifer Long to address the Student Technology Fee grant proposals, which are available for students, faculty and staff to implement technology advances throughout the university. Ms. Long announced that the deadline was October 31, 2001 and thereafter the STAT (Student Technology Advisory Team) committee would meet to vote on the grants received.
Chairperson Scheffler introduced Dr. Jim McCrory, who gave a presentation (PowerPoint Presentation) of the services provided by Information Systems. After the presentation Dr. McCrory offered a walk-through tour of the department.
The next meeting is set for November 14, 2001 at 3:00 p.m.
