Welcome to the Writing Center!

Our Mission
Northwestern State University’s Writing and Resource Center is a place where students can engage in writing, discuss writing, and reflect on their writing in a comfortable atmosphere. Trained undergraduate and graduate tutors also provide free assistance and feedback to all Northwestern State students with basic technological issues as they pertain to word processing software. Our ultimate goal is to help students become confident, aware, and reflective writers over time. Through conversing, questioning, modeling, and explaining concepts, tutors and students collaborate in all areas of language, communication, and literacy development; and students become active participants in their learning.

Note: We will not proofread or in any way interfere directly with a student's work. Instead, we tutor students in grammar and mechanics, discuss stylistic issues, and offer guidelines for research.

The Online Writing Center is one aspect of our services, and we hope that all students will use the resources available. Our goal is to serve students, whether face-to-face or online, and we are updating our website regularly.
