NATCHITOCHES- A scholarship has been set up at the NSU Foundation in memory of Dr. Carroll D. Aby Jr., a former dean of business and faculty member at Northwestern State University. Aby died Jan. 2 in Baton Rouge.

Aby joined NSU's faculty as a professor of finance in 1992 and was dean of business from 1998 until his retirement in 2001.

A leading scholar in finance, Aby was the author of 11 books including a nationally recognized work on technical analysis of the stock market. Aby also published articles in regional, national and international professional journals and has received awards for his research.

Aby was the Noble B. Morrison Professor of Applied Business at Northwestern and was the recipient of the NSU Alumni Association's Outstanding Teacher's Award last year. He was also on the faculty at Northeast Louisiana State College (now the University of Louisiana at Monroe), the University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Western Carolina University, University of Tennessee at Martin and William Carey College.

In addition to his academic experience, Aby worked for several leading international investment firms.
