FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES -A Northwestern State University student has received one of three scholarships awarded by the Louisiana Airport Managers Association (LAMA).

Joshua Trahan of New Iberia earned one of three $1,000 scholarships awarded annually to Louisiana residents majoring in aviation. Selection criteria included a grade point of 2.5 or above, transcripts, classification as an upperclassman and university curriculum. Trahan also wrote an essay on his career objectives and how he plans to achieve them and provided references.

Trahan will earn his multi-engine rating and Certified Flight Instructor's rating after graduation.

"I will most likely become a Certified Flight Instructor; however my long term goal is to become either a corporate pilot or airline pilot," Trahan said.

"I was with Josh at flight team regionals when he got the call," said David King, head of the Department of Aviation Science. "I was not surprised in the least when he told me he had been selected. I could think of no student more deserving than Josh to receive this scholarship. Josh is a very fine academic student and pilot and the LAMA selection committee must have agreed."
