FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES- The Red River Chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals has made a $5,000 donation to the NSU Foundation to benefit the College of Business' Computer Information Systems Scholarship Fund.

The chapter has members in Avoyelles, Grant and Rapides parishes. It has assisted collegiate computer information systems programs in the area for a number of years. NSU has the only bachelor's program in the field in this region of Louisiana.

"We have had the funds set aside for a number of years. We are glad to help a program that has been competing on a regional and national level and has done well," said Kevin Webb, of Pineville, the chapter's president. "Our chapter has been in contact with the student chapter here and we realize the progress that has been made here."

The computer informations systems program is one of Northwesern's Designated Areas of Excellence. Students won national championships in three areas at last year's AITP National Collegiate Conference.

Northwestern hopes to raise additional funds to endow scholarships for computer information systems students, according to Coordinator of CIS Dr. Jack Russell.
