NATCHITOCHES -The team of Casey Brumbaugh of Shreveport and Brandon Cutts of Alexandria finished second in systems analysis and design at the 12th Association of Information Technology Professionals National Conference in Detroit.
Students from NSU have finished first or second in this category for the past seven years.
Three Northwestern teams earned honorable mention in the category -- Mark Delahoussaye of Jeanerette and Peter Torres of Leesville, Joseph Beaudion and Eric Gertonson of Natchitoches and Brandon Charles of Breaux Bridge and Claudio Saldana of Natchitoches.
Brumbaugh, Michael Davis of Leesville and Justin Turner of Natchitoches finished third in Application Development.
Other students attending the conference were Devon Drake of Pollock, Carole Johnson Natchitoches and Taurus Jones of Natchitoches, John Norris of Shreveport and Natalie Pinell of Sulphur.
Northwestern received the "Top Monkey" Award awarded to the college or university with the overall best attendance and participation. This was the third time NSU earned this award. Northwestern's AITP Student Chapter was named the Outstanding Student Chapter in Region 3, which covers New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Oklahoma. This is the seventh time NSU's chapter has earned this distinction.
The conference was attended by more than 700 students, representing 67 colleges and universities from across the United States.
Computer information systems faculty Dr. Jack Russell, Dr.
Bin Mai and Barbara Russell also attended the conference.
