NATCHITOCHES -Northwestern State University's chapter of the Association of Information Technology Professionals was named the Outstanding Student Chapter for the third consecutive year at the AITP Collegiate Conference in Dallas.
NSU saw its five-year streak of national championships in Systems Analysis snapped, but the team of Nickie Currie of DeRidder and Casey Brumbaugh of Bossier City finished second.
Three teams placed in COBOL. Joey Murphy and Mike Fontenot of Natchitoches were third followed by Joseph Beaudion of Natchitoches and Marcus Simmons of Amite in fourth. Kie Boyett of Natchitoches and Mark Delahoussaye of Jeanerette were sixth. Murphy and Fontenot were also fourth in database.
More than 500 students from around the U.S. attended the conference.
Northwestern has nine first place finishes at the AITP Collegiate Conference over the past six years.
