NATCHITOCHES - A reception for prospective students at Northwestern State University and their parents will be held Thursday, March 8 at 6 p.m. at Tunk's Cypress Inn at 9507 Highway 28 West in Boyce.
Representatives from academic departments, financial aid and student housing at NSU to talk with prospective students and their parents about academics, scholarships and financial assistance as well as student life.
Northwestern has more than 50 degree programs. All eligible academic programs at NSU are accredited. Northwestern was the first public university in Louisiana to gain this distinction.
The university awards more than $60 million in financial aid to its students annually. Additional scholarship assistance is also available through private scholarships set up at the NSU Foundation.
Northwestern has more than 100 campus organizations available for students as well as a nationally respected Division I intercollegiate athletic program. The university is also modernizing its residence halls. A new residence hall, University Place, opened in 2005 and more new residence halls are being planned.
