FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University police have arrested a Northwestern student in connection with a two-month investigation into the theft of a student financial aid check.

Alando Marston, 23, of Shreveport has been charged with illegal possession of stolen things and six counts of forgery, according to Det. Doug Prescott of the University Police Department at Northwestern. Marston is being held on a $10,000 bond at the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.

According to Prescott, Marston allegedly deposited a stolen check into the account of a Northwestern student organization and withdrew the money later the same day. Marston is also accused of writing seven checks on the account of the organization to pay personal expenses. The checks were allegedly written without the knowledge or consent of the organization.

Prescott said no others are expected to be charged in this case. Additional charges could be filed against Marston as evidence is received from the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab in Monroe, according to Prescott.
