NATCHITOCHES- Northwestern State University's aviation science program will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate the renovation of the flight operations building at the Natchitoches Regional Airport. The event will held Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The building was damaged in March 2001 by a tornado. Northwestern and the City of Natchitoches worked together repair the building and used the opportunity to upgrade the facility to meet full ADA requirements. NSU leases the flight operations building from the city. Approximately $46,000 in repairs were made.

"We think Northwestern has a wonderful aviation science program, and upgrading its flight operations building will only enhance the program."
The aviation science program has 50 students. Graduates become
airline pilots with private and commercial certifications, as
well as instrument and multi-engine ratings. They can also become
certified flight instructors.
