FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES-The third annual Buddy Bonnette Memorial Day Golf Scramble is set for Monday, May 26 at the Northwestern Hills Golf Course in Natchitoches. Proceeds will benefit the Coach Buddy Bonnette Scholarship Fund and the men's and women's basketball teams at NSU.
The tournament is an 18-hole, four-person team scramble. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place teams in two divisions. Reservations are necessary. The fee is $75 and includes green fees, a golf cart and lunch. Tee time will be at 9 a.m.
The tournament is held in memory of Dr. Buddy Bonnette, who taught health and physical education and swimming at Northwestern for 35 years. Bonnette was held in high regard by his peers and former students. In 2001, he was named to the NSU Hall of Distinction, the Long Purple Line and was given the title of "professor emeritus" in 1995. The scholarship is an example of his commitment to higher education and benefits students who plan to become teachers and coaches.
Those who do not play golf but are interested in donating to the scholarship fund can make tee sponsorships. In order to make a $500 corporate sponsorship, a $240 team sponsorship or $50 tee sponsorship or a donation, contact Tony Gustwick, Director of Institutional Advancement at (318) 357-4414 or (888) 799-6486.
