NATCHITOCHES-The Bill Causey Big Band, one of the mid-south's top jazz orchestras, will appear at The Natchitoches ­ Northwestern Symphony Orchestra's Pops Concert Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in Prather Coliseum.

Reserved tables are available at $120 for a table of eight or $150 for a table of 10. Tables will be available at 6 p.m. on the evening of the concert. Those attending the concert can bring their own food and drink. Each table will be set up with tablecloths.

The Bill Causey Big Band has been performing for more than two decades. The band performs from a musical library that includes both the old favorites from the 1930's and 40's and the best music from the talented arrangers of today. The band will include vocalist Seva May and NSU alumnus Mike Williams, the lead trumpet for the Count Basie Orchestra.

The concert opens the Natchitoches ­ Northwestern Symphony Orchestra's 2002-2003 and will be the debut of conductor Charles Demuynck with the orchestra.

The concert, "Stepping Out" will feature popular and light classical music. The program will also include "Satchmo! A Tribute to Louis Armstrong," "Barber of Seville Overture" by Rossini, "Suite #1" from "Carmen" by Bizet, a medley from Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess," "Pops Hoedown" by Hayman and a medley of music by John Williams from the film "The Empire Strikes Back."
