NATCHITOCHES -Northwestern State University's College of Business honored three companies for their contributions to the program's development at an alumni brunch held as part of Northwestern's Homecoming activities.

The NSU College of Business Dean's Outstanding Business Award was presented by Dr. Stephen Elliott, acting dean of the College of Business, to State Farm Insurance, Association Member Benefits Advisors (AMBA) and the Martin Foundation.

"Each company has made significant financial contributions to support the College of Business and has regularly hired NSU business graduates," said Elliott. "Their support has been invaluable in helping the College of Business gain a national reputation."

State Farm has provided more than $74,000 to create a state of the art classroom in Russell Hall. The company also donated laptop computers as well as chairs and desks. State Farm is also a member of the Dean's Advisory Board and helped students in computer information systems travel to regional and national competition. The company supported NSU when it hosted the Association of Informational Technology Professionals Regional Conference.

AMBA owner David Morgan has funded a $100,000 endowed professorship in marketing; contributed to the Dean's Advisory Board fund that supports funding for research and publications, helped fund construction of the Barry Smiley Courtyard and remodeling for the David Morgan Room in Russell Hall.

The Martin Foundation made a donation to create the $100,000 Roy O. Martin Professorship in Computer Information Systems and regularly makes donations to support the activities of the College of Business.
