FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES- Stacie Cosby of Alexandria has been elected Student Government Association president at Northwestern State University. Jennifer Jensen of Portsmouth, Va., was elected vice president. They will take office April 29.

Cosby is a junior business administration major. She is a graduate of Grace Christian High School.

"I know that the SGA president has an important role. I want to represent each student at the university to see that their voice is heard," said Cosby.

As president, Cosby wants to see a unicard system implemented for students. This would allow students to pay for a number of services with their I.D. card.

"A unicard could be used in residence halls, dining facilities, the bookstore, vending machines and other areas," she said. "It has been discussed, but it has not been fully implemented."

Cosby also wants to see the university's fiber optics network extended to campus residence halls. Another one of Cosby's objectives is to be visible to students throughout her term.

"I want to maintain an open door policy and have more office hours," she said. "I also plan to go around to campus dining halls to sit down, talk to students and have them give me their ideas about improving the university."

Cosby said she also plans to seek election to the student seat on the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. The eight SGA presidents from the University of Louisiana System select the student member.

"That is a goal of mine. I would love the opportunity to represent the students of the entire system," said Cosby.
