NATCHITOCHES-A summer camp for dancelines and drill teams will be held June 8-11 at Northwestern State University. The camp is open to students in grades six through 12 and is sponsored by NSU's Demon Dazzler Danceline and the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band.
The Danceline Camp will include workshops with instruction on proper stretching techniques and basic dance fundamentals, along with choreography of one jazz and one hip-hop routine. Participants may also bring fall band music for the staff to choreograph routines for performances and pep rallies. Activities include instruction on fundamentals, group/team routine performances, recreational activities, swimming, movies and other activities.
Drill Team workshops will include instruction on proper kick and stretching techniques, choreography of one kick routine and one prop routine. Participants may also bring fall band music for the staff to choreograph routines for performances and pep rallies. Recreational activities similar to the Danceline Camp are also included.
The cost per student is $150 which includes tuition, room, board and all activities and $50 per non-participant, sponsor or coordinator which includes room and board. Resident campers will be supervised and housed in NSU residence halls. Meals will be provided by ARAMARK Food Services.
