NATCHITOCHES- Northwestern State University awarded degrees to 712 graduates at its spring commencement exercises held Friday, May 7 in Prather Coliseum. During the 2003-2004 school year, 1,538 students received degrees from NSU, the largest number for any academic year in school history.
The commencement speaker was Congressman Billy Tauzin.
NSU awarded an honorary doctorate of humanities to Maj. Gen. Erbon W. Wise of Sulphur, a 1941 graduate of Northwestern, who has been a major supporter of the university.
Members of the graduating class of 1954 were honored with a "Second Diploma" marking the 50th anniversary of their graduation.
Faculty marshals were Dr. Bill Bryant, Dr. Christine Ford, Dr. Dennette McDermott and Dr. Scott Roach.
