NATCHITOCHES- The College of Education will dedicate a room to the late Representative Everett Doerge during Northwestern State University's Homecoming activities on Oct. 20.

Doerge earned his bachelor's degree from Northwestern in 1958 and his master's degree in 1964. He served as teacher, assistant principal and principal in Webster parish as well as superintendent of the Webster Parish School Board. He was a charter member of the NSU chapter of Phi Delta Kappa. As an educator, he was the first in the state to introduce computers in the classroom.

Doerge's dedication to improving education continued when he was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives in 1992. His influence spread throughout the state of Louisiana as he worked to further the cause for education.

The dedication will be held in conjunction with the College of Education Reunion Breakfast Saturday, Oct. 20. The breakfast begins at 8 a.m. The dedication will be at 8:45 a.m. in Pod C Room 105.
