NATCHITOCHES- An exhibition by Clyde Downs will be on display through Friday, Nov. 22 in the downstairs area of the Orville Hanchey Art Gallery at Northwestern State University. Downs is an associate professor of art at NSU.
The exhibit, "Small Relief," is a group of recent
block prints. According to Downs, the small format black and white
prints address themes of aging and political
realities. Some have been influenced by Tolkien's" Silmarillion,"
a prehistory to his "Lord of the Rings."
Downs has been at NSU since 1991. A painter, printmaker and computer graphics artist, Downs holds a Master of Fine Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University, He also advises the NSU Student Art Society.
Works by Downs have been shown at Diversity Gallery in Leesville,
Louisiana College, River Oaks Gallery in Alexandria, Angelina
College in Lufkin and the Barnwell Art Center, Shreveport, along
with numerous group exhibitions.
