NATCHITOCHES Author John Dufresne will give a book signing and reading in Natchitoches on April 21-22.
The book signing will be at PJ's Coffee House on College Ave. on April 21 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the reading on April 22 at 10 a.m. in the Ora G. Williams Studio in Kyser Hall. Both events are free and open to the public. His appearance is sponsored by National Writing Project. The reading is co-sponsored by the NSU Student Activities Board.
Dufresne will also address a Writer's Conference for the NSU Writing Project at Cypress Bend on Toledo Bend April 22.
His first novel, Louisiana Power & Light, was a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection. It was also a New York Times Notable Book of the Year as was his second novel, Love Warps the Mind a Little.
Dufresne's most recent novel is Deep in the Shade of Paradise.
He has also written a new book on fiction writing, The Lie
That Tells a Truth. His first book was an acclaimed story
collection, The Way That Water Enters Stone.
Dufresne grew up in Worcester, Mass., and attended Worcester
State College and the MFA program in creative writing at the University
of Arkansas. He teaches in the Creative Writing Program at Florida
International University.
