NATCHITOCHES - A short course in tropical ecology will be offered this winter in Ecuador by Northwestern State University's Office of Electronic and Continuing Education.

The course will be taught Dec. 26 through Jan. 5 at the Jatun Sacha Biological Preserve. Participants will explore the Jatun Sacha trails, visit the Center for Conservation of Amazonian Plants, take a rafting trip and visit the Quito Historical District and Mitad del Mundo. They will spend three days studying tropical ecology at Jatun Sacha and an additional three days collecting data. Students will also make presentations.

College credit for Biology 3200 and 3201 is available. The cost for the course is approximately $1,500.

Those planning to take part must have a current passport and up to date vaccinations.
