NATCHITOCHES-Northwestern State University's Office of Continuing Education is offering an emergency medical technician basic course in Many beginning April 7. The class was postponed from March 4.

The EMT class will be held twice weekly from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Old Vocational-Technical School located at 910 West Mississippi in Many. The course will include 144 hours of classroom training, 48 hours of clinicals in a hospital emergency room and 48 hours of field training on an ambulance.

To take the class, individuals must be at least 17, have a passing grade on the TABE test, present a copy of a high school diploma or GED, have a copy of current immunization records and a statement from a physician regarding physical condition. They must also have a copy of an American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR or equivalent. The CPR class and TABE test will be available on April 7 at 6 p.m.
