NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University's Office of Electronic and Continuing Education will offer an Emergency Medical Technician Course beginning Tuesday, March 13.
The fee for the class is $550 plus textbooks which will be approximately $85. The course will be taught in Room 106 of Williamson Hall on NSU's Natchitoches campus.
The EMT-Basic course is an entry-level class for emergency medical services. The class is required for those with the objective of becoming a paramedic. The course includes 152 hours of classroom training, 48 hours ambulance ride time and 48 hours in an emergency room.
Additional supplies for the class include a purple scrub top, pants and stethoscope.
Those who complete the class will be eligible to test for State and National Registry and to be State and National Registry Certified.
Those taking the class must be at least 17 and must be at least
18 prior to State and National Registry testing. They must have
a high school diploma of a GED prior to testing. High school students
must be first responder certified and in good standing with their
