NATCHITOCHES ­Episcopal School of Acadiana won the 14th Annual State Quiz Bowl Championship held at Northwestern State University.

Episcopal, the Division IV champion, defeated Division III Menard of Alexandria in the semifinals and Division II champion Vandebilt Catholic of Houma in the finals. Vandebilt Catholic advanced to the finals by defeating Division I champion Sulphur. Episcopal, the first Division IV champion to win the State Quiz Bowl, will represent Louisiana in the Panasonic Academic Challenge in Orlando, Fla., in June.

Top finishing schools by division were:

Division I ­ 1. Sulphur; 2. Jesuit of New Orleans; 3. Caddo Magnet.

Division II ­ Vandebilt Catholic; 2. Bolton; 3. Catholic High of Baton Rouge.

Division III ­ 1. Menard; 2. University Lab of Baton Rouge; 3. Isidore Newman of New Orleans.

Division IV ­ 1. Episcopal School of Acadiana; 2. St. Mary's of Natchitoches; 3. Florien.

The Quiz Bowl is sponsored by the Louisiana Association for Academic Competition.
