NATCHITOCHES- Northwestern State University awarded degrees to 738 students during fall commencement exercises held Friday, Dec. 14 in Prather Coliseum. Students who earned degrees during the summer and fall semesters were honored.

The commencement address in the morning ceremony was delivered by Sally Clausen, president of the University of Louisiana System. Norman Koonce, executive vice president and chief executive officer of the American Institute of Architects, delivered the address at the afternoon ceremony. Koonce was also the recipient of an honorary doctorate of humanities.

Four students graduated summa cum laude with grade point averages of 3.9 or better. Those students were Tara Elisabeth Davis of Florien with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Connie Jean Walker Dunn of Natchitoches with a Bachelor of Arts in History, Jean Marie Frazier Waskom of Natchitoches with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Mindy Nicole Martin of Crowley with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Davis, Dunn and Waskom graduated with 4.0 grade point averages.
