FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES- The NSU flight team will participate in the National Intercollegiate Flying Association Safety Conference May 15-20 at the University of North Dakota.
Northwestern State University is one of only 32 universities receiving an invitation to compete. NSU was chosen based on results from Regional competition held in Oct. in which over 300 schools competed. This is the second time the aviation program has received such an invitation.
"This is a one in a life time opportunity for these students
to go to this national competition, said David King, assistant
professor and chief flight instructor. "This will really
project the aviation department's status. We will now be recognized
on a national level."
The NSU flight team consists of 15 members who will compete in
both flying and ground events against teams such as the U.S. Naval
Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and Ohio State University. Corporate
sponsors and major airlines host the yearly national competition.
