NATCHITOCHES - Using food and food traditions to create lesson plans is the focus of the workshop for teachers "Key Ingredients & Louisiana Foods," on Saturday, Sept. 23 from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Old Courthouse Museum in Natchitoches.
The workshop is held in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution's Key Ingredients exhibit. Teachers will learn how they can create curriculum-based lessons on any grade level for math, science, social studies, and English language arts using food and food traditions.
Teachers will receive classroom-ready materials and a certificate for eight hours of participation. The workshop is free. Deadline for registration is September 18. Space is limited.
The workshop is provided by the Smithsonian Institution, the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, the Old Courthouse Museum, Louisiana State Museum, Louisiana Voices, Louisiana Folklife Program, Louisiana Folklife Center and Northwestern State University.
