FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NATCHITOCHES-Dr. Thomas Hall, head of the Department of Industrial and Engineering Technology at Northwestern State University, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Engineering Council (E.T.C.) of the American Society for Engineering Education (A.S.E.E.).

For the past year, Northwestern has been a member of A.S.E.E. and Hall has been the institutional representative for the Engineering Council.

"As an institutional representative, I looked at policies and procedures that affect institutions," said Hall. "I also looked at ways to promote engineering technology.

"Being on the board of directors, one of my goals will be to assist the E.T.C. in any way I can because that will in turn benefit engineering technology at NSU."

A.S.E.E. is a nonprofit member association, founded in 1893, dedicated to promoting and improving engineering and technology education. A.S.E.E. is composed of more than 12,000 deans, professors, instructors, students and industry representatives.

The E.T.C. is composed of a representative of each from the technical college members of the Society as well as an institutional representative from interested affiliate college members. The institutional representative is to assess and recommend policies affecting the overall administration of the Accreditation Board for Engineering Technology (A.B.E.T.) technical colleges and schools; to provide forums for discussion and an information exchange concerning problems and experiences of technical colleges and institutions; to represent and to speak on behalf of member technical colleges to cooperate with other segments of the Society on matters of common interest.
