NATCHITOCHES -Northwestern State University's Alumni Association will sponsor its annual Homecoming Banquet on Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. in the Friedman Student Union Ballroom. A social will be held prior to the banquet at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per person.
The banquet will honor inductees into the NSU Hall of Distinction, the Long Purple Line, recipients of the Excellence in Teaching Award recipients, the President's Distinguished Service Award and the newest members of the Graduate "N" Club Hall of Fame.
Five NSU alumni, Lt. Gen. Joseph M. Cosumano, Jr., executive Grover Davis, journalist Gary Fields, attorney Theodore "Ted" L. Jones and nursing educator Dr. Patricia Thompson will join the Long Purple Line.
Six NSU faculty members have been selected as recipients of the 2003 Excellence in Teaching Award. Those chosen were Susan T. Pierce of the College of Nursing; Dennette Derby McDermott of the Mrs. H.D. Dear, Sr. and Alice Estelle Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts; Dr. William I. Dickens of the Department of Health and Human Performance; Dr. Scott Roach of the College of Business; Dr. Shirley A. (Holly) Stave of the Scholars' College and Dr. Lorna Gifford of the College of Education.
The recipient of the 2003 President's Distinguished Service Award is Tom Paul and Maxine Aycock Southerland. This honor is presented annually to those who have rendered outstanding and dedicated service to the university.
The N-Club inductees are Mike Almond, Less Robertson, Rhonda Rube Baird, Steve Stockton and Darryl Toussaint.
