NATCHITOCHES - Kelli Rivere of Harvey has been selected as the 1998 Homecoming Queen at Northwestern State University. Rivere was one of 10 NSU students chosen to the Homecoming Court by Northwestern students. Also chosen were: Andi Airhart and Kathleen Gillan of Natchitoches, Tammy Bordelon of Houma, April Bradford of Jena, Angelique Duhon of Robeline, Gina Mahl of Metairie, Camille Nunez of Abbeville, Heather Ragsdale of Zachary and Emily Tracy of Tioga.
Members of the Homecoming Court will be special guests at activities throughout the week of Oct. 26-31 and will be presented at halftime of the Oct. 31 Homecoming game against Troy State.
Rivere, a senior social science education major, is the daughter of George and Laurie Rivere of Harvey. She is a graduate of John Ehret High School. A dean's list student at Northwestern, Rivere is president of Phi Mu Fraternity and captain of the Demon Dazzlers Dance Line. She is also active in three prestigious honor societies, Phi Alpha Theta, Phi Kappa Phi and Kappa Delta Pi.
Airhart is the daughter of Wayne and Candis Airhart. She is a graduate of Natchitoches Central High School. Airhart is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and the Demon Sweethearts. She was a Presidential Ambassador. Airhart is a former queen of the Louisiana Pecan Festival and participated in a student internship at Walt Disney World.
Gillan, a senior biology major, is the daughter of Dr. Robert E. Gillan and Patricia Gillan and the late Susan Magee Gillan. She is a graduate of Natchitoches Central High School. Gillan is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority where she is president. She is also president of the National Order of Omega and Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society. A dean's list student, she is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Purple Jackets. Gillan was a freshman connector, "Greek Woman of the Year and the recipient of the Lucile Hendrick Panhellenic Scholarship.
Bordelon, a senior mathematics major, is the daughter of Janice and Shelby Bordelon. She is a graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School. She is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, the NSU Pom Pon Line, Purple Jackets, Alpha Lambda Delta, and the Student Activities Board. A dean's list student, Bordelon has been a freshman connector for two years.
Bradford, a senior early childhood education major, is the daughter of Dennis Bradford and Candy Poole. A graduate of Jena High School, she is a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. Bradford is also a member of Purple Jackets, the Purple Pizazz Pom Pon Line and the Greek Council. She is a member of Kappa Omicron Nu Honor Society and Gamma Sigma Alpha Greek Honor Society where she served as president.
A junior political science major, Duhon is the daughter of Guy and Jan Duhon. She is a graduate of Natchitoches Central High School. Duhon is vice president of the Student Government Association. A member of Phi Mu Fraternity, she is president of Panhellenic. Duhon is also a member of Purple Jackets, the Greek Council and Blue Key Honor Fraternity. She is a 4.0 student who has also been a freshman connector.
Ragsdale, a senior fashion merchandising major, is the daughter of Frank and Janice Ragsdale. She is a graduate of Central Private High School. Ragsdale is a member of Phi Mu Fraternity where she serves as vice president. She is president of Purple Jackets. Ragsdale is also a member of the National Order of Omega and the Student Activities Board. She is also a member of the NSU choirs.
Tracy, a senior education major, is the daughter of Ray and Melanie Tracy. She is a graduate of Tioga High School. A member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, Tracy served as president of Panhellenic and secretary of the Order of Omega. She was also a member of Purple Jackets, the Student Activities Board and the Gavel Club. A dean's list student, she was selected as Panhellenic Woman of the Year and has served as a freshman connector.
