NATCHITOCHES -Virginia Dixon of Abbeville has been selected as the 2000 Homecoming Queen at Northwestern State University. Dixon was one of 11 NSU students chosen to the Homecoming Court by Northwestern students. Also chosen were: Allison Bishop of Pineville, Allison Bulot of Belle Chasse, Casey Jo Crowder and Jennifer Paul of Shreveport, Sarah Griffith of Johnson Bayou, Jamie Hughes of Harvey, April Jordan of Montgomery, Michelle Meyer of Baton Rouge, Allison Nunley of Natchitoches and Stacey Thompson of Glenmora.
Members of the Homecoming Court will be special guests at activities throughout the week of Oct. 17-21 and will be presented at halftime of the Oct. 21 Homecoming game against McNeese State.
Dixon is a senior general studies major. She is the daughter of Clarence and Cheryl Dixon of Abbeville. A graduate of Abbeville High School, Dixon is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and was chosen as a Pi Kappa Phi Rose. She is the 2000 Southeastern Panhellenic Conference Coordinator and was president of Panhellenic. A Dean's List student, Dixon was a freshman connector for two years and is a member of Purple Jackets.
Bishop is s senior music education major and is the daughter of Paul Bishop and Patricia Bell of Pineville. She is a graduate of Pineville High School. Bishop is a member of Phi Mu Fraternity where she is membership director. She was a freshman connector in 1999 and is vice president of Purple Jackets. Bishop is a Dean's List student and was a recipient of a Board of Trustees Academic Scholarship.
Bulot is the daughter of Allen and Cindy Bulot of Belle Chasse.
A graduate of Belle Chasse High School, she is a junior journalism
major. Bulot is vice president of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority,
secretary of Purple Jackets and a three-year member of the Demon
Dazzler Danceline. She was a freshman connector and a member of
Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society. Bulot was chosen as Sigma Nu Fraternity's
White Rose last year.
Crowder is a senior business administration major. She is the daughter of Sharon Crowder and the late Orval A. Crowder of Shreveport. Crowder is a graduate of Northwood High School. She is a member of Phi Mu Fraternity, Purple Jackets and Order of Omega. Crowder was a member of the Purple Pizazz Pom Pon Line and has been active in the Student Government Association. She is a Dean's List student.
Griffith is the daughter of Nathan and Jo Griffith of Cameron. She is a graduate of Johnson Bayou High School. Griffith is a senior English major with a concentration in professional writing. She is president of NSU's Student Activities Board and is a member of Purple Jackets. Griffith has also been a freshman connector and member of Order of Omega and Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society.
A senior biology major, Hughes is the daughter of James and Barbara Hughes of Harvey. She is president of Purple Jackets and vice president of Phi Mu Fraternity. Hughes is a member of Order of Omega and is a Student Government Association senator. She was named SGA Senator of the Year.
Jordan is a senior business administration major. She is the daughter of James and Peggy Shelton III of Montgomery. A graduate of Montgomery High School, Jordan is president of Alpha Kappa Alpha and a member of the Demon Sweethearts. She is also a member of the Gavel Club, senior delegate to the National Pan-Hellenic Council and is a member of the Greek Council. Jordan is also a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and has been an NSU Ambassador.
Meyer, a junior hospitality, management and tourism major, is the daughter of Joe and Alice Meyer of Baton Rouge. A graduate of Bishop Sullivan High School, she is president of Panhellenic and secretary-treasurer of the Student Activities Board. A member of Phi Mu Fraternity, Meyer is also vice president of Purple Jackets and was a freshman connector this past year.
A senior political science major, Nunley is the daughter of Mary Ann Nunley and Gerald Nunley. She is president of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and vice president of the Student Activities Board. Nunley, a graduate of Natchitoches Central High School, is a President's List and Honor Roll student. She is also a member of Purple Jackets and chairman of Order of Omega. Nunley was a member of the1999 Homecoming Court and served as a freshman connector.
Paul is a junior liberal arts major in the Louisiana Scholars'
College. She is the daughter of Michael and Carol Paul of Shreveport.
Paul, a graduate of Byrd High School, is a member of Sigma Sigma
Sigma Sorority where she serves as treasurer. She is a member
of Purple Jackets, serves as an SGA senator at large and is active
in the Scholars' College Forum. Paul has served as a freshman
connector.
Thompson is the daughter of Harold and Julia Thompson of Glenmora. She is a graduate of Alexandria Senior High School. Thompson is a junior journalism/marketing major. A member of Phi Mu Fraternity, she is Lagnaippe chairman for the Student Activities Board. Thompson is a member of the Demon Sweethearts and Sigma Tau Delta and has been an Emerging Leader.
