NATCHITOCHES-Jessica Breaux of Raceland has been named queen of the 2003 Homecoming Honor Court at Northwestern State University. Lamar Bryant of Monroe was selected as king of the Honor Court.
The court also includes Danyelle Andrews of New Orleans, Nealy Beach and Jasheika Dennis of Shreveport, Kyra Banks of Alexandria, Aimee Bobo of Haughton, Danielle Mitchell and Terrica Wallace of Baton Rouge, Laura Terrell of Natchitoches and Kalprina Williams of Lafayette.
Also named to the court are: Greg Comeaux of Lafayette, Craig Coutee, Dustin Matthews and David Williams of Alexandria, Christopher Henry, Michael Johnson and Travis Williams of Shreveport, Thorn LaCaze of Boyce and Travis Reams of Baton Rouge.
Breaux is a senior journalism major with an emphasis in public relations. She is the daughter of Susan Dufrene and Garwin Breaux. A member of the Homecoming Honor Court for the second year in a row, Breaux was named Miss NSU and the 2003 Greek Woman of the Year. She is a member of Phi Mu Fraternity serving as president and has worked as a freshman connector. Breaux is also a member of the Purple Jackets Honor Society.
Andrews is a senior fashion merchandising major and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Andrews. She was a member of the 2002 Homecoming Honor Court. Andrews is a member of the African-American Caucus where she has been public relations director and social activities. She has also been public relations officer for the Louisiana Family and Consumer Sciences Association and the NSU chapter of the NAACP.
Banks is the daughter of Hayward and Sharon Banks and is a junior criminal justice major. She is vice president of the African-American Caucus and was also named Miss African-American Caucus. Banks is captain of the Anointed Perfections Praise Team and a member of the NSU chapter of the NAACP.
Beach is a senior hospitality management and tourism major.
She is the daughter of Richard and Bab Beach. A member of Sigma
Sigma Sigma Sorority, Beach is a recipient of the
Lucille M. Hendrick National Panhellenic Scholarship. She is a
Dean's List student and a member of Purple Jackets. Beach is also
a member of the Student Activities Board and was also a freshman
connector.
A senior physical education major, Bobo is the daughter of Lisa Bobo. She is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and Purple Jackets. Bobo was also a freshman connector. She was named as Sigma Nu's White Rose. Bobo is also a member of Blue Key Honor Fraternity.
Dennis is a senior journalism major and is the daughter of Bobbie Banks Dennis. She is vice president of the Lifted Voices Gospel Choir and chaplain of the African-American Caucus. Dennis is a member of the Demon Sweethearts and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was named the 2002-2003 Outstanding Member of the Lifted Voices Gospel Choir.
Mitchell is the daughter of Lymus and Bernadine Jones. She is a senior journalism major. Mitchell is vice president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. She was a freshman connector and a member of the Order of Omega. Mitchell was a recipient of the Ben Johnson Endowed Scholarship and a Steel Magnolias Scholarship.
A junior hospitality management and tourism major, Terrell is the daughter of Rick and Karen Terrell. She is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Terrell is also a member of the Student Activities Board where she is public relations and advertising executive chairperson. She was a freshman connector in 2002.
Wallace is a senior health and exercise major and is the daughter of Cleophus and Joycelyn Wallace. She is a two-year member of the Homecoming Honor Court. Wallace is secretary-treasurer of the Student Activities Board, founder/president of the Northwestern Angels and was a freshman connector. She has received the Leadership Award from the African-American Caucus.
Kalprina Williams is the daughter of Mary Williams. She is a senior psychology major. Kalprina Williams is president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, vice-president of the Student Activities Board and secretary of Psi Chi, the national honor society in psychology. She had the highest grade point average in the Eta Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha and received the Gertrude Boyt and SAB Executive Board Scholarship.
Bryant is a senior business administration major. He is the son of Dorothy Rodgers and Ernest Bryant. A member of the Student Activities Board, he is also active in Students in Free Enterprise, College Democrats and the Emerging Leaders Program.
Comeaux is the son of Steve and Kathleen Comeaux. He is a senior history major. Comeaux is president of the Student Government Association and a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity where he serves as chaplain. He is a member of the NSU club soccer team and is the team captain. Comeaux is also active in the Emerging Leaders Program.
A senior business administration major, Coutee is the son of Larry and Beverley Coutee. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity and the University Concert Choir.
Henry is the son of Bearl and Carolyn Henry. He is a sophomore social work major. Henry is a member of Phi Beta Sigma where he is sergeant at arms and the National Pan-Hellenic Council.
Johnson is president of the Student Activities Board and past president of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. A senior business administration major, he is the son of Mike and Sandra Johnson. He has been a member of the Homecoming Honor Court for three years and a freshman connector for two years.
LaCaze is a sophomore journalism major. He is the son of El and Nell LaCaze. A member of Theta Chi Fraternity, he is the organization's secretary. LaCaze is a representative at large with the Student Activities Board and has been a freshman connector. He is a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Fraternity and made the National Dean's List.
Matthews is a three-year member of the Homecoming Honor Court. He is a senior business administration major at NSU and is the son of Randy and Liz Matthews. He was named Mr. NSU and Greek Man of the Year. Matthews is president of Sigma Nu Fraternity and has been in the Student Government Association for three years.
Reams is the son of Angela Reams. He is a senior psychology major. Reams is a member of the Student Activities Board, head of the Campus Trends Committee and a member of the African-American Caucus. He is also active in the Catholic Student Organization. Reams has also been in the Emerging Leaders Program.
David Williams is the son of Monica Williams and is a senior psychology major. He is president of the National Pan-Hellenic Council and Omega Psi Phi. David Williams was also a member of the Order of Omega. He is a member of the NSU track team, serving as captain and was the Male Academic Athlete of the Year in 2001.
Travis Williams is a senior social work major and is the son of Rev. Walter Henderson Jr. and Kathy Williams. He is president of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and is a member of Lifted Voices Gospel Choir and the African-American Caucus. Travis Williams was also a member of the 2002 Homecoming Honor Court.
