FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NATCHITOCHES- More students in the Hospitality Management and Tourism program at Northwestern State University will be awarded scholarships, thanks to the American Hotel Foundation.
Northwestern State University has been accepted as an affiliate school for the AHF scholarship and research programs. This makes NSU one of 80 schools that participate in the AHF Annual Scholarship Grant program, the foundation's largest.
The university was one of sixteen schools selected from 32 applicants for the affiliate status for 2001. NSU is one of two schools in the state of Louisiana that participates in the program.
Because the Hospitality Management Tourism curriculum is a four-year program, NSU will receive $3,000 annually to disburse as The Handlery Scholarships. They will also receive notices of special scholarship opportunities, important notices regarding research opportunities, complimentary copies of all completed research projects, and opportunities to participate in national scholarship competitions.
The AHF Scholars will be determined by NSU according to their
academic performance, hospitality work experience, extracurricular
involvement, financial need and personal attributes. Eligible
students will include juniors and seniors with a 3.0 grade point
average.
